“I was introduced to Jay in 2019 by a friend and we have been working together since. Jay is easy going yet very knowledgeable and structured approach really enabled me to significantly improve my strength and flexibility. My initial goal was overall strength to complement the extensive running (marathons) and cycling that I was doing. Jay assessed me, established a baseline, and immediately went to work on my poor thoracic flexibility and upper body strength deficiencies. He structured each workout with appropriate warmups, main and accessory exercises, and then recovery. We have subsequently moved onto the compound/power lifts as a mechanism to increase strength. Jay helped me redesign my exercise room and I now have the perfect environment for working out! I’m really enjoying systemically breaking weightlifting personal records. I have significant strength and mobility gains in all of the compound movements from pullups to squats and deadlifts. After seeing the gains and impact that I have enjoyed, I got my wife to start working out with Jay as well and—in a short period—she too has noticeable strength gains! Jay is very mindful of overtraining and injury prevention and even though sometimes he pushes me, he never puts me in a position of potential injury. After workouts, Jay gives me very clear and useful recovery tips (like rolling and stretching protocols). “I started working with Jay in May of 2021 after my latest back injury that resulted in a few herniated disks and months of pain just moving around. This had been my third episode and the hardest. After not being able to move at all for a few days and needing help to do the most basic things, I decided this was never going to happen to me again (or at least I will try my best to prevent it). After talking to multiple specialists and some personal research, I realized that I needed to strengthen my core to prevent future episodes. I wanted to do it safely as I was not willing to risk my mobility again. My physical therapist highly recommended Jay and I was impressed since our first session together. Jay did a thorough evaluation of my mobility and strength. He designed a program just for me that he constantly modifies depending on my back pain and schedule. He initially focused on making sure I was able to protect my core with light and safe exercises. With time, and as I developed strength, he has progressed me to the point that I know can do squats and deadlifts safely (something that after my third back injury I felt was impossible). Injury prevention is a key part of his program as injuries can set you back and Jay has also taught me how to recognize which activities and exercises are good and which ones are potentially harmful. Moreover, my back pain has improved significantly and even though I still have aches and pains every now and then, for over a year I haven’t had a bad episode that has precluded me from doing my job and hobbies. I am a physician, and my job is very important to me, but also comes with tight schedules. Jay has never had an issue with that, always accommodating my weekly program and sessions around my crazy schedule. He also encourages me to reach out any time I have questions about the work outs or any concerns. He really has been a great partner in my recovery and I now have new fitness goals that I am sure, with his help, I will be able to achieve. I cannot recommend Jay highly enough for anyone interested in injury prevention and recovery.”
